How to Start a Task

This document explains how to start a production task in x4Trace, including starting a task on a terminal, resuming an existing task, and running a task on the server.

Opening the Production Task View

  1. On the main page, open the Production → Production Task menu.
  2. Select:
    • Department
    • Shift
  3. Press the Refresh button.

Production Task Selection

The grid will display all available assignments for the selected department and shift.

Starting a Task on a Terminal

  1. Select the assignment you want to start.
  2. Select the target terminal (for example, T001).
    • The terminal must be logged out before starting.
  3. Press the Play button.

Start Task on Terminal

When started:

  • The terminal begins the process
  • The process is paired with the selected assignment

Starting Multiple Processes

  • You can start multiple processes for the same assignment by pressing the Play button multiple times.
  • Each press creates a new process linked to the same assignment.

Resuming an Existing Process

If work has already started on an assignment:

  • Press the Resume button
  • The existing process continues
  • No new process is generated

This is useful when work is temporarily interrupted.

Starting a Task Without a Terminal (Run on Server)

If no terminal is available:

  1. Select the assignment.
  2. Choose Run on Server.
  3. Press the Start button.

This starts the process directly on the server.

Starting a Task Locally on a Terminal

You can also start the process locally at the terminal:

  1. Enter the username.
  2. Enter the password.
  3. Press the Start button.

Local Terminal Start

The process will start and be associated with the authenticated user.

Summary

Starting a task in x4Trace can be done in multiple ways:

  • On a terminal using the Play button
  • By resuming an existing process
  • On the server without a terminal
  • Locally by logging in on the terminal

Each method ensures the process is correctly linked to its assignment and remains traceable.
